We could say Baudrillard’s entire textual oeuvre tells a never ending story about the world’s end, a story the world may not know is about itself. A world thinking it’s going to end and hence won’t. Baudrillard tells this story because the world won’t end but does he believe it can or can’t? And what world is he referring to anyway, if the world did end what couldn’t he say about it? No one has cared to answer this question because the disagreeability of his writing is taken too seriously. We are upset at his words if they were ours and not his.
We agree with Baudrillard that the world has already ended, yet it’s more important to ask which one? A part of us no longer believes its possible to be the one Baudrillard wrote of since we came from there. Baudrillard wrote in another time, and although he wrote in the past it can only be past if his future came, the one he couldn’t theorise. If nothing he has said has happened its because we have the means to find his principles of insufficient reason. We will write how Baudrillard’s world ended, how it lived.
